1 Corinthians 1:2
Previous Verse
1 Corinthians 1:2
Next Verse

Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called [to be] saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Note 3 at 1 Cor. 1:2: It is important to remember that Paul greets these believers by calling them saints and referring to them as sanctified in Christ Jesus. This is the same group of people that Paul later rebukes for immorality, drunkenness, and improper use of the spiritual gifts. Yet they were sanctified saints. This makes it very clear that our sainthood is a gift obtained through salvation and not something that we earn.

Note 4 at 1 Cor. 1:2: Paul addresses this letter to all believers. It is not limited to the Christians in Corinth. This quiets all comments that some make against the doctrines of this book as not being applicable to all believers.
