1 Corinthians 1:11
Next Verse

For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them [which are of the house] of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

Note 4 at 1 Cor. 1:11: Members of Chloe's household had informed Paul about the division in the church in Corinth (see Overview in Intro. to Book of 1 Corinthians, p. 856). There is no indication that Paul rebuked them for doing so. Contrariwise, Paul acted on the information they presented him and wrote this epistle to the Corinthians.

Therefore, there are times when we can share needs or problems without being critical. Satan has condemned many sincere Christians with thoughts that they were gossipers because they shared a negative situation with someone else in an attempt to get help.

Note 5 at 1 Cor. 1:11: This is the only mention of Chloe in scripture. This was a feminine name meaning "the first shoot of green grass."
