Next Verse

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Note 11 at 1 Cor. 1:27: Verses 26-28 are exactly opposite of the way that man thinks on his own. Carnal man would choose the "cream of the crop" to represent his interest to others. Yet, God Almighty, does just the opposite.

When we consider things from God's perspective, there really could be no better way. Verse 25 reveals that man at his best is still infinitely lower than God at His worst. Therefore, there could never be anyone "qualified" in the natural to accurately represent God.

So, God chose "the worst" of men and endued them with supernatural power to be His witnesses. This reveals the awesome power of God in a similar way that a true artist's or craftsman's handmade work testifies to their great talent.

Many people could learn to use computers to design art or make things, but it is only the best artisans who can create a true masterpiece with only the crudest tools. Likewise, a lesser god could use the brightest and best of men to draw others to Himself, but only our Lord God Almighty can take the worst of men and make the mighty tremble (Acts 24:25). God gets all the glory and not the "tool" He uses.
