1 Corinthians 3:10
Next Verse

According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

Note 1 at 1 Cor. 3:10: This parable about the different building materials has applications on the individual level which are very beneficial (see notes 2-6 at vv. 12-15, this page?). However, in context, Paul is speaking about Apollos and himself and their ministry to the Corinthian believers.

This parable is primarily speaking to ministers about the way they minister to God's people (see note 8 at 1 Cor. 3:17, p. 874). Those who minister under the leading and inspiration of the Holy Spirit will be like the gold, silver, and precious stones; they will stand the test. But those who minister carnal things that cause divisions will not stand God's test just like wood, hay, and stubble cannot withstand the fire.
