1 Corinthians 4:8
Previous Verse
1 Corinthians 4:8
Next Verse

Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

Note 5 at 1 Cor. 4:8: Paul uses irony and sarcasm in the next few verses to make his point. The Corinthians were not truly full, rich, and reigning as kings any more than Paul was a fool, weak, and despised in verse 10. These were not true statements. At the end of this verse, Paul says in effect, "I wish you were a king reigning on a throne so I could reign with you" (see note 1 at 1 Cor. 4:9, this page).
