Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Note 7 at 1 Cor. 5:7: Paul takes this simple metaphor of leaven and makes it very special by applying it to the passover meal. In the Old Testament passover meal, great care was given to eliminate all leaven. Jesus fulfilled the sacrificial lamb part of the passover by shedding his blood for us (see note 3 at Lk. 22:16, p. 473). Now, we need to fulfill the symbolism of no leaven by living holy lives for Him.
