1 Corinthians 6:13
Next Verse

Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body [is] not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

Note 9 at 1 Cor. 6:13: This is a continuation of the thought Paul had in the previous verse (see note 8 at v. 12, this page). Paul was free in Christ to do as he wished, but he chose not to do those things that gave Satan opportunity in his life.

Now, he stresses the importance of the spirit over the flesh by reminding the Corinthians that this physical body and all the things that it lusts for will pass away. The only eternal significance to the physical body is when it is yielded to the Lord as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1) so that God can glorify Himself through it.
