There is difference [also] between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband.
Note 14 at 1Co 7:34: Paul was not saying that a married woman is not as holy as a virgin. Rather, he was stressing that a married woman cannot focus all her attention on the Lord the way a single woman can. Her obligations to her family are time-consuming. The next verse (1Co 7:35) makes it clear that he said these things so that they could focus all their attention on the Lord without distraction.
