There is difference [also] between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband.
Note 14 at 1 Cor. 7:34: Paul is not saying that a married woman is not as holy as a virgin. Rather, he is stressing that a married woman cannot focus all her attention on the Lord the way a single woman can. Her obligations to her family are time consuming. The next verse makes it clear that he says these things so they could focus all their attention on the Lord without distraction.
