But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Note 4 at 1Co 10:5: This is quite an understatement! The Lord was so angry with them that He was going to wipe them all out and start over with Moses' descendants (Ex 32:9-10). He sent serpents (Nu 21:6) and plagues (Nu 11:31-33 and 16:44-49) among them, which eventually killed off all those who rebelled against Him.
