Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

Note 5 at 1 Cor. 10:6: Paul is using these Israelis as an example to these Corinthian believers. Yet this same thing is true for us. The stories related in scripture about how people related to God, and the accompanying positive or negative results, are recorded for our benefit (v. 11). Each individual does not have to embark on an uncharted path to find God. We can simplify the process by believing the map that God has given us (the Bible).
