Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, [that] eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
Note 3 at 1 Cor. 10:25: As stated before (see note 2 at 1 Cor. 8:1, p. 898) the issue here was not the condition of the food but the conscience of others. Therefore, if a person's conscience was not involed, there was nothing wrong with the act. So Paul states that if you are eating meat that has been sacrificed to idols but don't know it, it doesn't matter. But once you know that it has been offered to idols, you should refrain because of the other's conscience (v. 29).
