1 Corinthians 11:5
Previous Verse
1 Corinthians 11:5
Next Verse

But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with [her] head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

Note 4 at 1 Cor. 11:5: Although Paul is not specifically teaching on women prophesying, he does mention that it happened in the churches. This is helpful in interpreting other passages of scriptures that Paul wrote about women in the church (1 Tim. 2:11-12).

Note 5 at 1 Cor. 11:5: Paul is saying that in the customs of his day, if a woman prayed or prophesied without her head covered, then that is just the same as if all her hair was shaved off her head (see ref. p at v. 6). In other words, it would be a disgrace.
