1 Corinthians 11:18
Previous Verse
1 Corinthians 11:18
Next Verse

For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

Note 1 at 1Co 11:18: Paul certainly knew that there were divisions in the Corinthian church. He had already dealt with the division among the Corinthians over which minister they should follow (1Co 1:10, see notes 1 and 2 at that verse). Paul used the same Greek word speaking of "divisions" in 1Co 1:10 as he did here in 1Co 11:18. And again, in 1Co 12:25, Paul used this same Greek word speaking about a "schism" in the body of believers.

The Greek word that was translated "division" here is "SCHISMA," and it means "a split or gap" (Strong's Concordance).
