1 Corinthians 12:2
Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
Note 3 at 1Co 12:2: Paul was beginning his remarks about spiritual gifts by reminding these Corinthians that they had once been deceived into worshiping idols. This was to warn them that they could not just trust their own judgment. They had been led astray before. They needed to give heed to his instructions.
Likewise today, we cannot be led just by our own feelings concerning the gifts of the Spirit. These directions from the Apostle Paul, governing the use of the spiritual gifts, must supercede any urge or leading that we feel. If our use of the spiritual gifts doesn't match Paul's instructions, then we are using them incorrectly. "The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets" (1Co 14:32, see note 20 at that verse).
