Next Verse

And those [members] of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely [parts] have more abundant comeliness.

Note 8 at 1Co 12:23: A fingernail or a toenail is not the most beautiful part of the human body. That's one reason women paint them. They try to turn their liabilities into assets. We need to get this same attitude in the body of Christ.

We should treat the less desirable members of the body of Christ in a way that would cover up their faults and maximize their good qualities. Too often, Christians forsake those who are struggling spiritually. Yet the potential is there to turn some of these hard cases into trophies. All they need is a little work.

Our hands and feet do all the work, yet it's our nails that need constant attention. All of us have experienced the pain that an ingrown nail or a broken nail can produce. We neglect them only at our own expense. Likewise, neglecting the feeble members of the body of Christ will hurt us all, just as neglecting your nails will result in pain and decreased efficiency of your hands or feet.
