Next Verse

And though I have [the gift of] prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Note 4 at 1 Cor. 13:2: In verses 1-2, Paul mentions three of the spiritual gifts he had spoken of in chapter 12 (i.e. speaking in tongues, prophecy, faith). In verse 3, he speaks of the gift of giving, which he listed as a spiritual gift in Romans 12:8. Once again, this underscores the fact that the nine gifts of the Spirit listed in chapter 12 are not all of the spiritual gifts (see note 16 at 1 Cor. 12:8, p. 929).
