But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or [one] unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

Note 4 at 1 Cor. 14:24: Paul now goes on to state that prophecy is superior to tongues (unless it is interpreted [see note 12 at v. 5, p. 944]) because it edifies the believers (vv. 3-4) and causes the unbelievers to be "convinced of all." "Convinced of all" is a term meaning "to undergo conviction," and be "judged of all" means "to determine the defects of a person" (TDNT, p. 469). In other words, God's Word, spoken through the power of the Holy Spirit, edifies the believers and convicts the unbelievers, causing them to acknowledge that God is truly among you.
