Note 16 at 1Co 14:30: The prophets' gift does not control the prophets, but they control the gift, as is stated by the phrase "Let the first hold his peace." Prophets are not compelled to speak something out of control, as if they cannot control themselves. Those who are prophesying can control themselves and wait for their turn to speak. This is similar to the instructions about the gift of tongues found in 1Co 14:27-28.
