Next Verse

But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

Note 27 at 1 Cor. 14:38: The New International Version translates this verse, "If he ignores this (the commandments of the Lord), he himself will be ignored." The Greek word for "ignorant" used here is "agnoeo" and means "not to know (through lack of information or intelligence); by implication, to ignore (through disinclination)" (Strong).

This verse seems to have the Old Testament connotation of 1 Samuel 2:30, "Them that honour me (God) I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed."
