1 Corinthians 15:37
Previous Verse
1 Corinthians 15:37
Next Verse

And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other [grain]:

Note 5 at 1 Cor. 15:37: In the previous verse, Paul used seeds to demonstrate the resurrection. Now he uses the same example to answer the question, "with what body do they come?" (v. 35) In the same way that a seed is different than the plant that it produces, likewise our resurrected bodies will be different.

Our glorified bodies will be very similar to our physical bodies in appearance. This can be said because of what the scriptures reveal about Jesus' glorified body. He still looked human, He ate food (Lk. 24:41-43), had the print of the nails in His hands and feet, and He said He had flesh and bones (Lk. 24:39). Yet he could appear (Lk. 24:36; Jn. 20:19) and disappear (Lk. 24:31). Our resurrected bodies will be immortal (i.e. not subject to death-vv. 53-54). Our resurrected bodies will be like Jesus' resurrected body (1 Jn. 3:2).
