1 Corinthians 15:43
Previous Verse
1 Corinthians 15:43
Next Verse

It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

Note 12 at 1 Cor. 15:43: The word "sown" used in verses 42-44 refers to the death of our physical bodies. The planting of a seed in the ground is comparable to death (see note 4 at v. 36, p. 963). So, the planting or sowing of our bodies is speaking of death and being placed in the grave.

Our physical bodies are placed in the grave and corrupted (see note 11 at v. 42, this page). It certainly is a dishonor (this verse) for such a magnificent creation of God as our bodies, which God never intended to die, to be placed in the grave. It's our physical body's weakness (this verse) that causes it to die, and it is a natural body that is placed in the grave (v. 44) to be raised a spiritual body (v. 44).
