1 Corinthians 15:52 |
Next Verse |
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Note 20 at 1 Cor. 15:52: The Greek word that was used here for "moment" was "atomos." It literally means "that which cannot be cut or divided, hence 'atom,' i.e. an 'atom' of time" (The Companion Bible). Paul is saying that this change of our bodies from corruptible to incorruptible and from mortal to immortal will take place instantly. Praise the Lord!
Note 21 at 1 Cor. 15:52: Notice Paul's emphasis on the word "last." If this statement is to be taken literally (which there is no apparent reason to take it any other way), then this change of our mortal bodies that Paul refers to will happen at the precise time John recorded in Revelation 11:15-19 (see Parallel Scriptures for this verse).
