1 Thessalonians 2:1 |
Next Verse |
For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
Note 1 at 1 Th. 2:1: Paul's ministry to the Thessalonians was not "in vain." The Greek word for "vain" is KENOS and literally means "empty, fruitless or without effect" (Thayer). This could be translated, "Paul's coming to the Thessalonians was successful or accomplished a purpose." The New English Bible translates this verse, "You know for yourselves, brothers, that our visit to you was not fruitless."
