Note 17 at 1 Tim. 3:5: Paul's reason for saying a pastor has to manage his family well is because the way he manages his home is the way he will manage the church. It is wrong to maintain two different standards for one's personal and public lives. It cannot be done effectively. Those who assert that their personal lives has nothing to do with their public lives are just deceiving themselves.
