1 Timothy 5:2
Previous Verse
1 Timothy 5:2
Next Verse

The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

Note 6 at 1Ti 5:2: There is some real wisdom here about how young Christian men and women are to relate to each other. They should treat each other as brothers and sisters. The way some young people conduct themselves, by participating in the dating ritual where they "own" each other, is not healthy. Paul was advocating just friendship until the right one comes along.

Note 7 at 1Ti 5:2: Paul stressed "purity" in Timothy's relationship with the women in the church. Viewing the older women as he would his mother and the younger women as he would his sister would keep purity in these relationships.
