If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
Note 35 at 1 Tim. 5:16: This is a reiteration of what Paul said in verses four and eight. The point is that the church should only take care of the widows who have no one else to support them (see notes 11-14 at v. 4, pp. 1295-1296).
