Previous Verse
1 Timothy 5:21
Next Verse

I charge [thee] before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

Note 12 at 1 Tim. 5:21: Paul makes it clear that his instructions to Timothy about rebuking an elder who had sinned, were to be carried out without partiality. Personality and friendship cannot blind a leader from doing what is right.

Note 13 at 1 Tim. 5:21: This is the only time in scripture that the term "elect angels" is used. The Greek word "EKLEKTOS" from which "elect" was translated means, "select, by implication favorite" (Strong). This refers to the angels who didn't sin against God (Jude 6).
