Previous Verse
1 Timothy 6:7
Next Verse

For we brought nothing into [this] world, [and it is] certain we can carry nothing out.

Note 13 at 1Ti 6:7: If we focus on the things that did not come into this world with us and will not leave with us, we are occupied with the wrong things. Everything that can be seen is only temporary (see note 21 at 2Co 4:18). The invisible, intangible, and eternal values should be our greatest quest.

Note 14 at 1Ti 6:7: Hearses don't pull U-Hauls. That is to say that none of us can take our possessions with us when we die, but we can send them on ahead (see note 37 at Mt 6:20). Therefore, it's foolish not to use our money to advance the kingdom of God. It's only what we give away that we can keep. We are not fools to give away that which we cannot keep to obtain that which we cannot lose.
