1 Timothy 6:7
Next Verse

For we brought nothing into [this] world, [and it is] certain we can carry nothing out.

Note 13 at 1 Tim. 6:7: Those who focus on the things that did not come into this world with them, and will not leave with them, are occupied with the wrong things. Everything that can be seen is only temporary (see note 21 at 2 Cor. 4:18, p. 999). It's the invisible, intangible, eternal values that should be our greatest quest.

Note 14 at 1 Tim. 6:7: Hearses don't pull U-Hauls. That is to say that no one can take his possessions with him when he dies, but we can send them on ahead (see note 37 at Mt. 6:20, p. 136). Therefore, it's foolish to not use our money to advance the kingdom of God. It's only what we give away that we can keep. A man is not a fool to give away that which he cannot keep to obtain that which he cannot lose.
