2 Corinthians 1:24
Previous Verse
2 Corinthians 1:24
Next Verse

Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

Note 19 at 2Co 1:24: Paul's statements about coming so that he could benefit them (2Co 1:15) and his statement here about sparing them might have led some of his critics to ask, "Who do you think you are? Do you think we can't make it without you?" Paul put it all in balance in this verse.

Their faith had to be in God. Paul wasn't their head (1Co 11:3); Christ was. Paul's part was simply as a tool of the Lord, who was there to help them experience the joy available in Christ.
