2 Corinthians 2:10
Next Verse

To whom ye forgive any thing, I [forgive] also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave [it], for your sakes [forgave I it] in the person of Christ;

Note 9 at 2 Cor. 2:10: Paul is telling the Corinthians that the man that has their forgiveness has his also. It was "for your sakes," i.e. for the welfare and benefit of this Corinthian church, that forgiveness was offered in the person of Christ. This phrase "in the person of Christ" means in the presence, sight, or before Christ. Notice also that Paul stresses forgiveness as a free, sincere act of the "will" to be initiated and exercised by the Corinthians.
