Next Verse

Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:

Note 1 at 2 Cor. 6:3: Verses 1 through 10 are one complete sentence, even though many complete thoughts are contained therein.

Verse 3 begins with Paul's statement that he tries to never do anything that may cause someone to stumble or be led astray. Paul's objective is to insure that no one ever finds fault or discredits the ministry of the Lord.

Paul had a purpose for living holy that was beyond just selfish motives. His actions were a reflection on the ministry and upon his Lord. Everyone needs to recognize that we do not live just for ourselves (Rom. 14:7-8). There is always someone watching and our actions could make an eternal impact on that person's life. Like it or not, we all have responsibilities beyond just ourselves. Failure to recognize that and act accordingly is irresponsible.
