And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which [I have] in you.

Note 7 at 2 Cor. 8:22: It is unclear whether Paul is referring to Titus (v. 16, 23) or to another unnamed brother besides the one he mentioned in verse 18. Regardless, this brother has been proven to be faithful and can therefore be trusted. That's the point he is making.
