2 Corinthians 9:4
Next Verse

Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.

Note 5 at 2 Cor. 9:4: Paul is pointing out that, in the light of all his boasting about the Corinthians and their readiness to give, it would be quite embarrassing for him and the Macedonian brethren to arrive and an offering not be ready. Not only would Paul be embarrassed, but this would be embarrassing to the Corinthians too. This Greek word "kataischuno," which was translated "ashamed" (KJV) was also translated "embarrassed, humiliated and disgraced" (J.B. Phil; RSV; NEB).
