(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

Note 10 at 2 Cor. 9:9: Paul has just stated that the Lord was able to make the cheerful giver prosper in every situation (v. 8). Now he quotes from Psalm 112 (v. 9; see O.T. Scripture Cited, above) which is describing the blessings of the man who fears the Lord. This is scriptural verification of the truth he has just presented. The man of Psalm 112 was a cheerful giver as Psalm 112:9 reveals, and he certainly had God's financial blessing abounding in his life.

This point could be made by looking at the lives of many of God's servants (Job, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, David, Solomon, etc.). God financially blesses those who are cheerful givers.
