2 Thessalonians 2:14
Next Verse

Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Note 3 at 2 Th. 2:14: Jesus said He has given us the same glory that the Father has given Him (see note 110 at Jn. 17:22, p. 505). Paul said this glory would be revealed IN us, not TO us when we stand before the Lord (see note 1 at Rom. 8:18, p. 797). Paul also said in Ephesians 1:18 that the riches of the glory of his inheritance is already in the saints (see note 12 at Eph. 1:18, p. 1100). Peter said we were called unto God's eternal glory (1 Pet. 5:10).

In this verse, Paul repeats this truth by saying that we have been called to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. In light of these other scriptures, it is very clear that this is not something that will take place in the future, but it is a present tense reality in every true believer.
