Note 17 at 2 Tim. 4:4: Ministers who preach for the approval of men will stray from truly representing the Lord every time. The results will be that they will water down what God is saying to make it more palatable to the people so that they will get better reviews. This in turn will cause the people to err from the truth and turn from the Word of God to fables (see ref. f at this v.).
