Acts 4:26
Previous Verse
Acts 4:26
Next Verse

The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

Note 2 at Acts 4:26: In this prayer the disciples are pointing out one of the most important things to remember when persecution comes; the persecution is not really against them but against the Lord.

Note 3 at Acts 4:26: This scripture provides a good commentary on the word "Christ." The terminology used in the Old Testament passage which is being quoted (Ps. 2:2), says, "against his anointed" while this passage says, "and against his Christ." Therefore, even a person who didn't have access to Greek could see that "Christ" means "anointed" since these terms were used interchangeably (see note 2 at Mt. 16:16, p. 261).
