Acts 5:15
Previous Verse
Acts 5:15
Next Verse

Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid [them] on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

Note 3 at Acts 5:15: This was a great miracle that is not recorded any where else in scripture as being done by anyone else. However, there was no power in the shadow itself. The power was in Jesus and was released through the faith of these people and Peter.

Faith can be activated and released through many different physical means (Examples: a rod-Ex. 4:17; a tree-Ex. 15:25; a brazen serpent-Num. 21:9; salt-2 Ki. 2:19-22; meal-2 Ki. 4:41; a stick-2 Ki. 6:4-7; figs-2 Ki. 20:7; clothes-Mk. 5:28-29, 34; clay-Jn. 9:6-7; handkerchiefs and aprons-Acts 19:11-12). However, if a person's attention moves from God to the instrument which is used, then that becomes idolatry (see the example of Moses' brazen serpent-Num. 21:9 with 2 Ki. 18:4).
