Acts 8:5
Previous Verse
Acts 8:5
Next Verse

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

Note 1 at Acts 8:5: Jesus had already ministered to the people in the city of Sychar, which was just a short distance from this city of Samaria (Jn. 4:5-42).

Note 2 at Acts 8:5: This is the constant message of the early church (see ref. t at this verse). The believers were preaching Jesus and what He had done for us. Today many "ministers" preach morality or social issues or what we must do for God, but this was not the message of the first century church. There is a place to mention these things but Jesus always has to have the pre-eminence (Col. 1:18).

If anyone comes to your door claiming to represent Jehovah God and he isn't preaching Jesus as the focal point and the only way unto the Father (Jn. 14:6), then he isn't truly honoring God the Father, either (Jn. 5:23; 1 Jn. 2:22-23).
