And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

Note 10 at Ac 12:13: The entrances to the bigger houses in Palestine were large, folding gateways, large enough to allow camels in with their burdens. In these gates was a door through which people could enter when the larger gateway was not needed. This was the "door of the gate" that Peter knocked at.
