And though they found no cause of death [in him], yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

Note 10 at Acts 13:28: The sinlessness of Jesus is a critical doctrine in scripture. If Jesus was a sinner himself, then he needed a savior. He certainly couldn't have been anyone else's savior. But Jesus was so pure that even His enemies attested to His innoncency.
