Acts 14:3
Next Verse

Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Note 1 at Acts 14:3: The word "therefore" means that the reason they abode a long time in Iconium speaking boldly was because of the persecution mentioned in verse two. Instead of fleeing from persecution, Paul and Barnabas became more determined than ever to stay with the believers and speak God's Word.
