Next Verse

That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

Note 3 at Acts 17:27: This phrase, "they might feel after him" paints the picture of a blind man groping for his way. This graphically represents the sad state of man's attempts to find God. However, Paul goes on to state that the Lord is not far from any of us. It is true that man is hopelessly lost and has little chance of finding the right way, but it's not left up to chance. God in His omnipresence is seeking man. In reality, we don't find God. He's not the one that's lost. God finds us. No one need ever despair of coming to know God in His fullness. God wants you to know Him more than you want to know Him. If we will just humble ourselves and seek Him, He will always reveal Himself (Mt. 5:6).
