Acts 18:6
Next Verse

And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook [his] raiment, and said unto them, Your blood [be] upon your own heads; I [am] clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

Note 5 at Acts 18:6: The phrase "opposed themselves" is simply an old English way of saying that they set themselves in opposition to or resisted what Paul was preaching. However, the play on words is very appropriate. Anyone who resists the gospel is opposing himself since the gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Rom. 1:16).
