Acts 19:31
Next Verse

And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring [him] that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.

Note 6 at Acts 19:31: The Greek word used here for "chief of Asia" is "Asiarchs" which is correctly rendered "chief of Asia" or "chief rulers of Asia." This distinguishes these men as either past or present political rulers in Asia. The fact that they were Paul's friends shows that the gospel that Paul preached had made strong inroads among the elite also.
