Acts 20:13
Previous Verse
Acts 20:13
Next Verse

And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.

Note 1 at Ac 20:13: Assos was a seaport of Mysia (see note 4 at Ac 16:7) located a short distance southwest of Troas (see note 7 at Ac 16:8). The road from Troas to Assos, which Paul probably traveled, was about twenty miles long. An early geographer named Strabo described Assos as "strong and well-fortified; and the ascent to it from the sea and the harbor is very steep and long" (Geography, Book 13, Chapter 1, Section 57). Aristotle founded a Platonic school of philosophy in Assos.
