Acts 21:28
Previous Verse
Acts 21:28
Next Verse

Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all [men] every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.

Note 1 at Acts 21:28: The Old Testament forbid any Gentile from entering the tabernacle and later the temple upon penalty of death (see Num. 1:51-Parallel Scripture). The first century historian, Josephus, wrote (War, lib. v. cap. 5, sec. 2) that on the wall separating the court of the Gentiles from the holy place was written in Greek and Latin, "no stranger is permitted to come within the holy place on pain of death."
