And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
Note 6 at Acts 22:9: According to Acts 22:7, these men did hear the voice of God. Paul's statement hear must mean that they didn't discern what they heard as the voice of God just as in Jn. 12:29 some people heard a voice and others thought it was thunder (see note 6 at Jn. 12:28, p. 417).
