Note 5 at Acts 24:17: This is the only place in Acts where Paul states his purpose in going to Jerusalem this last time. It was to bring alms and offerings. In his letter to the Romans, he explains that these alms were from the saints in Macedonia (see note 1 at Acts 16:9, p. 667) and Achaia (see note 11 at Acts 18:12, p. 682) for the poor saints at Jerusalem.
