Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

Note 4 at Acts 27:32: Paul had gained the respect of the centurion and the other Roman soldiers through his ability to hear from God. They had ignored him once (v. 11), but they would not make that mistake again. The manifestation of God's power in his life had exalted him from prisoner to commander.
